“With our business expertise, and Open Arena’s training skills, we created something that met our business needs.  They definitely got under the skin of the business and Open Arena have now delivered 5 cohort Oxygen programmes for us.”

People Development Manager, Sky

Their Challenge

Open Arena engaged Sky to create a talent development programme for their sales and operational Executives, in their Sky Media business area.

Open Arena were selected to scope the needs further and to develop a programme ready for a January 2014 launch. The end result was Oxygen.

The Solution

After scoping the needs and conducting a discovery we identified that the priorities were to equip Executives with core business skills, set new operational benchmarks and create something that would influence the business culture. The solution was to design a 6-month development programme incorporating pre-and post-behaviour assessment, classroom training, 360° feedback, work based project work, coaching, shared learning forums and an ILM accreditation.

The Outcome

There was a significant shift in Sky behaviours from essential to role model:

  • 100% of delegates have passed their ILM endorsed papers

  • More than 50% of Executives have been promoted or moved roles within the Sky business

  • A year after the programme, staff continue to develop – they’ve been enthused and sufficiently skilled to achieve ongoing impact

  • Culturally Sky have seen greater networking between course delegates, and an increase in coaching between staff and their managers, as well as course content being used in team working practices.
